Summer is Perfect Time to Destroy a Dam and Restore a River Ecosystem

With summer comes dryer, hotter weather and a slower flow of water in many river bodies. For demolition crews in the U.S., it's the perfect time to tear down dams that have either reached their operational limit or that have long obstructed river ecosystems. River preservationists and water watchdogs are hoping the removal of such dams will eventually lead to a resurgent natural cycle in the rivers where they once stood. So far, 30 dams have been removed this summer.
