I've never seen footage quite like what appears in this phenomenal architectural short film "The Third and the Seventh" (video after the jump), which was made by Alex Roman using things called Vray and 3D Studio Max. The film is 12 minutes long, and it doesn't have an obvious narrative, but it's so visually rich that I want to dive into my monitor.[vimeo][/vimeo]Grey Scale Gorilla has a few other videos up that explain how the film was made. The explanations and composite shots are fascinating, if a little on the wonky side for non-filmmaker types. "The Third and the Seventh" has me feeling some profound optimism for the future of cinematography.
