Great article. Two things I would like to add.

First, this is a great buy for Disney. They paid 4 Billion, which sounds like a ton, to buy the rights to all of the Lucas's film franchises and his special effects house (Industrial Light and Magic). The last 3 star wars movies made 2.5 Billion at the THEATRE. Let alone through toys and everything else. That means that the deal was likely worth 4 Billion for Star wars alone (I mean, who is better at selling toys to little kids than Disney - have you seen Cars 2?). Everything else is gravy. They will make a lot of money on this deal.

Second, this mean more star wars in the world. The reality is that the problem with Star Wars was, at least partially, George Lucas. Keep in mind he only was really in charge of one of the first 3 movies (Star Wars: A New Hope). The other two he was loosely involved in. Then he was completely in charge of the lastest 3 movies. I would argue that a loosely involved Lucas (which it sounds like he will be) is much more valuable than a fully involved Lucas. I am excited to see what comes for Star Wars. The world needs more Star Wars movies (in a way it doesn't need more Ghostbuster movies). There is so much there to be explored and, really, they would be hard pressed to be worse than the last 3 Star Wars movies.
