"Transit" Tells the Filipino Story in Israel

Abi Magalong

I can think of only 2 international movies with Filipinos in them (ex: the Prince who starred alongside Brandy in Cinderella 1997). So I was thrilled to add this to my list. "Transit" is a 2013 film about what it's like to be a Filipino immigrant in Israel: deportation dangers, identity crisis, the joys / struggles anyone who's lived in a foreign country can relate to. It's not perfect, but I love the passion behind this film!

That trailer is beautiful. I had no idea about deportation issues of Filipinos in Israel. I definitely want to see this film now. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Alessandra! I really don't know the technicalities of immigration laws in Israel, and I didn't necessarily love everything about the way the film was done.. but it was very cool to see these two cultures in one screen. I'm keeping my eye out for more films like it. Please let me know what you think!
