Turning Trash into Future Cities

How can cities' overflowing heaps of garbage be turned into something new? NYC alone creates 30,000 tons of new trash everyday. Even if everything was better designed for reuse and recycling and repair, and if city waste systems became a lot smarter, we'd still be left with some trash. Terreform ONE thinks we should use some 'smart' trash to build new buildings, with the help of giant 3D printers.
