Turns Out Virtually None of Us Wash Our Hands Properly

The proper way to wash one's hands is with soap and hot water for 20 seconds. Virtually none of us do that, according to a new study in the Journal of Environmental Health.

Only 5 percent of people wash their hands for more than 15 seconds, soap or no soap, according to the study. Ten percent didn't wash their hands at all, and 23 percent used no soap.

Men were worse than women in hand-washing.

Scrub up real good next time you've used the bathroom, y'all. We can do better!
