Waste and Debris Collecting Deep Below Monterrey Bay

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute collected 22 years worth of deep-sea video and found human-produced waste resting quietly within Monterey Canyon. Because the ocean floor is still sizably unmapped, researchers of the study are concerned that their findings may only typify what exists in similar regions around the world, which may or not be as well-protected as the marine sanctuary area of Monterey Bay. The depth makes removal and cleanup near impossible.
