'We're NASA and We Know it': The Mars Rover Mission Gets a Pop Makeover

In honor of the rover, NASA 'employees' have a little fun with LMFAO's hit song.

Looks like we're not the only ones who are pretty psyched about the Curiosity rover mission to Mars. A group of NASA employees is so proud of it that they've put their own spin on LMFAO's chart-topping "I'm Sexy and I Know it" and turned it into "We're NASA and We Know it," a catchy ode to the rover.

Okay, we fess up: The guy with the mohawk rapping lyrics like, "Kickin' at my console this is what I see, data streaming back from Curiosity," isn't actually Bobak Ferdowsi, the rover's flight director whose haircut became an online sensation during the livestream of the landing. And nope, neither the bikini-clad woman nor the break dancers wearing spacesuits are NASA employees. The video's actually produced by Satire, a Seattle-based comedy collective. They make working at NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory seem so hip, given how much we need to interest more students in studying science, technology, engineering, and math, maybe we should keep that little tidbit of information on the down low.

How does Ferdowsi feel about the pop makeover? He tweeted that the "video is hilarious & awesome," but he doesn't know if he and his colleagues can actually "dance like that." As for the rover itself, Curiosity's Twitter account also gave the video it's stamp of approval, tweeting "This fan-made video is AWESOME (and I know it).
