Great point you make. Brands need to be a part of the conversation and supporting their followers: "I just got tired of reading all or your stuff, starring, and retweeting and getting nothing in return. No “Thanks!” No “We love your stuff too.” No “How can improve your experience, how can we repay you for sharing all of our content, or heck, can we pay you for sharing all of our content?”

      Hey thanks Al!

You do a great job for GOOD, and I feel a lot more connected to you and reading your feed then the comp feed.

Thanks Patrick :) I would say following GOOD on Twitter is a great way to connect with our magazine content. So, it's story driven- and a pleasure to follow. I get your point, though- I think some Twitter accounts don't need to be about engaging unless people engage back. It's a science and the strategy is different for different folks/companies.

There's something different about following the journalists instead of the magazine. They have a different take, which I'm finding much more refreshing than having to be filtered through a marketing directors lens. There's no doubt that GOOD is a good feed and has story driven content but I would rather just get it from the source, and interact with the person who created their stuff and presents it the way they intended it to be presented. I just started this experiment this weekend, we'll see where it goes. Have a great one!
