What if Everything You Needed to Survive Had to Fit Through a Tiny Hole? (Not Your Mouth)


Newsweek just published a great piece outlining the struggles of the 33 Chilean miners trapped 2,230 feet underground. From now until a rescue tunnel reaches them (it could take months), their only access to the surface is through a series of narrow boreholes. That means everything they need to survive—food, water, vitamins, clothing, sleeping cots and blankets, electronics, and other necessities—has to fit in canisters no larger than 3.19 inches wide.
