What's a story pirate?

Katy Gathright

A group of people who only occasionally wear eyepatches, Story Pirates is introducing kids in the inner city to creative writing. They give kids the time to write their own stories which are then acted out by professional performers.

The Vanity Project is highlighting their work through design. They refined their logo and designed this sweatshirt to donate 51% of profits to Story Pirates. All of the sweatshirts are available at www.designedgood.com this week.

This is so cool! When they go into schools, do they first teach kids how to write creatively or do they just assume that they know how? I'm wondering how the lesson plan works! Thanks for sharing. I LOVE this idea.

I had never heard of Story Pirates-- it's a little 826-esque. Very cool!

They reminded me of 826 too! Glad you're into it!
