Why one start-up won't 'change the world'

I’ve always thought doing good meant being a part of a greater system where every person is doing their part to change the system or help innovate what’s next. But this vision, understanding one’s humble place in a larger, much more complex puzzle, I fear is being quickly replaced with grand startup dreams and way too much founder hubris.

    There are far too many in the startup and blogging communities that talk of revolutions, changing the world and making in difference, when all they are doing is bring more socially useless junk into the world. It's time to take back the vocabulary and save it for the real world changers.

      I couldn't believe some of the companies Nathan mentioned, like Manicube. I always thought people would be smart enough to know how to really use the terminology "change the world". Ultimately, we can't do it on our own- and neither can a startup, as Nathan says. Wish there was a platform that could make it easier to align multiple startups with their similar goals.

        Hi Alessandra,

        Marketers are pretty savvy at using hype and hyperbole for there own self interests. I guess it's up to consumers to call them out on their BS. As long as we keep buying their products, it's our own fault.

        What kind of platform do you envision?
