Working Night Shifts May Double Risk of Breast Cancer

Women working night shifts for over 30 years may face double the risk of developing breast cancer than those who don't, according to a study published in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Of 1,134 women with breast cancer observed in the study, a third were found to have worked unsociable hours as nurses, cleaners, or care workers. The study is one of a few to look at night shift work as a contributing factor to breast cancer and experts are urging that more data be examined.
