You want to protect your Trayvon Martins? How about raising them not to be little Trayvon Martins? Whenever someone dies it seems to somehow absolve them of their sins. The events surrounding his death did not magically transform into some kind of straight A student community leader. He was a wanna be thug "gangsta" that kids idolize these days. I'm not using that as a justification, but you don't get to go back and rewrite his character to better suit the story.
I'm white and I have been stopped by someone on a few occasions wanting to know what I was doing. Some of them were quite agitated when they first approached me and rather terse and rude. Yet somehow I managed to never attack anyone. Most of these encounters stemmed from some random issue that had recently occurred around that location. A little calm and politeness goes a long way.
The problem is that many kids have this chip on their shoulder with something to prove and view the world as out to get them. The truth is had Zimmerman detained Trayvon and he kept his cool about it he would have had one hell of a case when police arrived for an illegal detainment.
Trayvon used force first. All I can say is that if you broke my nose, I'd shoot you too. Don't try and sell me the hooker with the heart of gold, or in this case the thug with a hoodie some skittles...
