    Here's a simple format I use for the peer-support forums I facilitate:

I allow people some reflection time at the start of the session to identify any news they want to share – any achievements, stories and useful information – and to think about what they would like to work on together.

Each person then presents their news in turn, identifies a potential discussion point and answers questions from the group to help them clarify the issue.

We then introduce a shared ‘creative challenge’ we have prepared for each forum. We may also have a short presentation by one of the group about their practice, something that inspires them or a shared issue they wish to discuss.

Once we have all done this we split into smaller groups or even pairs so that people can suggest how we could make progress on any of the issues that have arisen or the shared creative challenge. Each pair or group can use this same format to discuss their challenge (present, clarify, suggest, respond).

Finally we come back together to respond to what we have learnt and to identify an individual and a shared creative challenge that we can all work on before we meet next.

Of course, you do not have to use this format, the most important thing is for you to find a format that works for you – and if you find a better one, or have any suggestions, do let me know – but you may find this a useful starting point.

I've been working with the League of Creative Interventionists to come up with ways to hack our city with art. We're holding a meetup at either one of our houses or a park- I think finding public space is the hard part. Our creative challenge is to build a paper 3D installation at a park.

    I love your ideas:

-meet together to visit and discuss exhibitions, performances or talks
-hold ‘art-crit’ sessions to share your practice and give each other feedback
-meet to make and create together or share the things that inspire you
-work on a creative challenge together

What a great name! I love the idea of the League of Creative Interventionists. Very happy to spread the news and see if we can build this network worldwide - do let me know how you get on with your creative challenge.

Looks great! You should post each challenge as a separate DO so GOOD can get involved with the challenges! Look forward to reading more about your work. Congratulations on the launch.

Will do, Jelena, thanks for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to seeing what people make of them!

Here's a bit more about what we have planned...
We are looking for people to join a network for people who support each other to achieve individual and collective goals. Each person will work towards their own long term goals by supporting other people on the network.

Every day for 18 months we will be setting a new creative challenge so we can help each other engage with our creative potential.

Each creative challenge will provide the focus for over 300 forums and network events where people will support each other to develop individual and collaborative projects and build an inclusive arts project to express our shared values.

Everyone is welcome. There will be regular public events and forums here in Bristol (UK) as well as weekly forums specifically for disabled and socially excluded artists’ and for arts practitioners, There will also be monthly forums for partners and policy makers.

We will be sharing these challenges - and people’s progress - through newsletters and social media to help people support each other to develop creative projects in their own group and community. I'd be happy to post them on here if you like.

Everything people share will help inspire and support others and contribute towards a growing set of printed and on-line resources including a ‘guide to creative capability development’ that will help people anywhere build creative communities.

To get involved just tell us a little bit about yourself and what you’re looking to achieve and we’ll send you all the information you need to get started.

Thanks for joining in. Here are four simple questions that might help you foster some creative collaborations:
What are you hoping to achieve?
What are you working on now?
    What can you offer?
    What are you looking for?

To kick you off here are my (current) answers:
My Goal: To build social justice - to achieve my potential in ways that help others achieve theirs.
My Project. To inspire and support people to work together to foster social justice and put together a guide to creative capability development with the people that choose to engage with this process.
What I’ll do next: Plan and deliver a series of network events and forums that aim to make it easier for people to use the arts for personal, organisational and community development. Produce a newsletter for people interested in creative development for organisations and communities.

What I can offer: Support to help people individuals and groups adopt more strategic approaches to creative development - advice, facilitation, resources, networks, forums and events.

What I’m looking for: People to participate in process of mutual creative development and share anything that inspires you and may inspire others, or that could support others.

    What about you?

What a great resource! Thanks Heidi, that's very helpful. I've been aware of Photovoice for a while but it's good to see such a thorough and practical explanation. I'm sure I'll be sharing that link with others!
