I have a couple of thoughts on this material.
First like the concepts presented. As a complement, I would suggest that there are two basic forms of happiness: relative and absolute. Relative happiness is the feeling you get when you've done some thing good (e.g., donate money to charity). Absolute happiness comes from within you. Relative happiness is dependent on you taking some action and depending on how things work out the feeling you receive from that action. Absolute happiness is a personal dimension that can be developed and is more of a constant driver in our life.
Secondly...Shawn Achor's book "The Happiness Advantage" provides five exercises that when done daily can improve an individual's relative and absolute happiness in a balanced approach.
Finally, I realized a long time ago that money did not make me happy. Rather it was what I did w/ my money that did. At the moment I derive the most relative happiness from a project I recently started a project to share the happiness advantage with others through random acts of kindness. I've benefited my entire life from having a happiness advantage, and this is my way of sharing it with others.
