Thanks, but why so dismissive about subway and weather-related replacement for cycling?
NYC cyclists know that riding a bike can keep you warmer and healthier than the walking (freezing) plus subway-riding (overheated) journey, and if the roads are plowed and salted, it is as safe as normal.
Why not share some (shopping) advice for cold-weather cycling? Really, compared to what you need for walking, all it means is an extra emphasis on wind protection, and good lights that many need to add to a bike.
