What a disgusting pack of lies. This post is dangerous trash; get rid of it before someone takes it seriously
You make numerous claims about R-values and building practices, but don'y cite a single source, code, or regulation. You mislead by using incorrect building materials. Most of the US requires AT LEAST 2x6 frame construction) Fiberglass batt insulation has been mostly replaced by spray foam or blown cellulose insulation, and of the three only the spray foam contains any significant petroleum products. The R-value of a 2x6 constructed outer wall is not 17, but almost 22 - and it's 1/4 the size of the vaunted hay. If code calls for 2x8 construction, the R-Value jumps to 28-30 depending on the insulation chosen.
Why no mention of the chemicals necessary to protect the hay from insects and combustion? As for durability, Adobe/Cob/"Hay" walls need to be reinforced with BIG steel bars to begin to come close to the structural integrity of even a 2x6 home being built to code in Florida or California today (did you forget about Adobe crumbling in earthquakes?)
