Seeing this post reminded me of the High-Line that my friend in New York showed me when I visited. An entire abandoned metro track turned into a walkway/park.
Currently, living in some suburbs near Detroit, it makes me wonder what kind of expense and time it would take for a community group to do this in Detroit. If we could get groups like this going all across the US, there are many cities that could benefit from small parks reclaiming unused concrete for natural beauty.
