We'd like to start a website with database & table functionality to match teachers with donors (following the www.anysoldier.com model). This website would be different from existing sites (DonorsChoose, Adopt a Classroom, Classwish) in that people wouldn't need to contribute cash. They could donate gifts in kind - items they had at home that they no longer needed but were on teachers wish lists. So many people toss out items they no longer need, items that classrooms could use. A lot more classrooms could be helped if people could donate items they had instead of money. Are there any web designers who would like to do a pro bono project to get this going?

I am so in love with this idea, Anna. I would love to help out with this. I'm hoping we can find someone to give this idea legs...

I am bringing my team coffee and tea tomorrow, just to start at a little more Rosemary Effect at my school. Spread the love!

I was a teacher for twenty years and there were so many times during my career that I could have benefited from a fairy godmother! What a wonderful idea and a wonderful woman! With all the misdirected criticism toward teachers, every teacher needs affirmation. If every teacher had this kind of support there would probably be a lot less turnover in the teaching profession. This has inspired me to include encouragement and affirmations for teachers on my website. Mind Your Creativity agadoodles.com

Cherre56: I agree...every teacher DOES need affirmation, because these are the professionals giving our students emotional and academic affirmations all day long. I love the thought of better connectedness between community and schools...with the students at the heart.
