We gave up the car when we moved to Toronto ten years ago. When we were searching for a place to live we found that the difference in price between centrally-located apartments and ones way out in the suburbs came down to the monthly cost of our car.
We've been car-free for over ten years now and it's been fantastic. We love living in a walkable neighbourhood in the middle of everything - and it wouldn't be possible were we to own a car.
