Anna Nicole and World Peace

  • Posted by: RobinLCSW

I am impressed with GOOD magazine thus far. I am particularly interested in how the publisher and his colleagues will use this magazine as a forum to CHANGE things for the better. Now, about Anna Nicole:

I would like to see if GOOD can come up with the $$$ devoted to Anna Nicole Smith the past several months by the media? How much money, in terms of air time, was devoted to her story? Can you find this out?
Why?
Because it’s disturbing that her celebrity got more attention than the poverty and hunger in the US and abroad; or the gang shootings in my City of Angels.

How can we use this recent “Media Circus” to help us understand what motivates people to listen to these stories with such fascination, when there are a hell of alot of more amazing stories, both heroic and terrible, waiting to be told! And what can Anna Nicole teach us about world peace?
DOes it take shows like American Idol (aka American IDLE) to move people to give money to causes worth their time, attention & money?
I hope you can address this in a future issue…
