Giant jellyfish have invaded the northern coasts of the Japanese islands and they’re causing problems. Frustrated local fishermen are hauling in little else. So one company, RIKEN, is trying to make marketable products from these gelatinous monsters. They’re exploring everything from artificial gastric fluids made from jellyfish mucin to a jellyfish-based ice cream topping. If they succeed, they’ll turn a costly problem into gooey gold. An original GOOD video.

who composed the music?
VERY Interesting! Especially if a product could be created to prevent 20/20 vision from deteriorating or at whatever vision rating, when diagnosed, from getting even worse! Dr. Steven Langer discovered and wrote in his publication, “Solved..mysterious illnesses….”, that the thyroid was the basis of many illnesses even certain vision loss….. Perhaps a product combining both a thyroid medication and jellyfish …. introducing”THY JELLYFISH” for eyes ….perhaps even better than lasered eyes. The Creator of the universe, Almighty God, has designed so many wonderful things that man has used as a model to invent products such as the airplane, helicopters, etc., so why not an eye product. But, what the Almighty creates, is flawless!
sorry, anon, but you are just plain silly.

whales eat jelly fish… maybe they should just stop killing whales?
I like the comment above.
Can you eat this? In Seven Pounds movie, Will Smith dies from Jelly fish?
The Japanese people should learn to leave the oceans alone.
Just a small correction. RIKEN is not a company but the largest governmental research institute in Japan. And I like the idea to make use of the jellyfish. It shows the typical Japanese pragmatism.
Love it. Japanese getting the most of out of their environment. Respect

I totally agree with the comment about the whales… It’s very interesting that the Japanese are the biggest perpetrators of whale hunting and because they have nearly decimated the whale population they are now been inconvenienced by the invasion of the “giant jellyfish.” Sounds like Karma to me!
well…. interesting, I totally agree with the fact that japanese are the biggest perpetratos of whale hunting… and since they have nearly anhiquilated the whale population… this could be a signal to leave the OCEAN alone. I guess they are not so smart after; who in his/her total five senses would do such stupid thing, as destroy part of the ecosystem. I mean; we are part of one and only earth; this means that if we destroy all of our resources; we are gonna die pretty soon ^^
i have to agree the Japanese need to leve the ecosystem alone they should be trying to reserve the whales admitting they created this problem instead of trying to find away to destroy another species.
I was wondering what “God” created the Universe and what has been created that’s “flawless”
So let me understand, now the japanesse have decided to decimated the giant jellyfish population with some short sighted money making idea? I want to understand if they are killing them or what.
maybe this is part of the Karma brought on the Japanese fishing industry in light of the way they slaughter thousands of Dolphins each year for mercenary profit…or the way that they routinely overfish the oceans.of course now, instead of considering the impact that commercializing the Jellyfish may have on the eco system of the Oceans….they are trying to figure out how to make this into a profit system….what enlightened thinking!
Once upon a time there was a whole vibrant ecosystem in front of the Japan coast. All that is left is the Jellyfish. It is some sort of Karma to have Japanese government dealing with this problem. Yet, it is not the only country heading in that direction. It is a warning sign for the rest of the world.Jelly fish is eaten by sea turtles for sure, sea turtles are exterminated near the Japanese coast. There are no turtles to eat jelly fish, hence Jellyfish thrive and grow larger. What does Jelly fish eat? bacteria and micro organisms. Kill al the Jelly fish, what are you going to get in the oceans? Are we going to get the message this time?
