Last year, I celebrated the progress I had made after only 1 year from a debilitating stroke by RUNNING the 5K Austin Heart WALK and raising over $11,000 for the American Heart & Stroke Associations.

This year, I've taking a more "cerebral” approach to raise awareness - in addition to funds.

I cannot suppress the knowledge and abilities I've worked so hard to re-acquire. Thousands of families are needlessly at risk of stumbling through the same gaps in the Stroke prevention infrastructure that left a hole in my brain only 2 years ago. I'm even more agitated knowing that most potential Stroke victims will not have access to the rehabilitation services that enabled me to re-acquire a quality of life few people my age might ever enjoy.

So, I'm taking to a campaign of "house-party" styled events to present my story with a candid review of the sequence of Steps I did not know to take that might have prevented my stroke or minimized the injury to brain I so needlessly suffered in summary :

**At 3 hours, the golden window closes for preventing and treating stroke with tPA a clot-busting drug that can prevent or reduce disability from ISCHEMIC strokes.

**The median arrival time from onset of a person's stroke symptoms to an ER is between 3 and 6 hours

** Stroke is the #1 cause of long term disability in the US.

**On average every 45 seconds someone in the US has a Stroke

I hope this "good" knowledge becomes "common knowledge." See what you can do, OK?

thx
