Charge It Into The Ground (by Discover Card)

Discover has introduced a biodegradable credit card, which they claim will break down when exposed to soil, water, compost, and other microorganisms (that may be in my wallet). They say the card will degrade completely within nine months to five years.

I wonder what the economics are to produce this card relative to regular plastic credit cards…? Anyone have ideas on how to figure it out?
