Just to say that Samantha Power herself recognizes that her book on Sergio Vieira de Mello has many holes and untruth. Sergio was my deepest friend during 40 years long. We were then ( teenagerhood ) really together till our marriages, with different people after a short separation. Then, after Bangladesh, as a kind of transcendental friendship. Sergio was NOT ” … at Arpoador chasing girls …” as Samantha puts in her book. He was a very serious man already on the age of 16. A philosopher. We were. All these encounters then in Paris. Till 1998 when I became very sick. But the contact was there and very deep. Telephone, letters, e-mails. All his books with wonderful dedications, his small letters, written with his small handwritting, his presents, so symbolic during his whole life. What an unjustice to say that and keep these TRUTHs hidden only because the book was already on the shelves all over the world. We have talked about Buddhism and philosophy in general, about methaphysics, about Beauty. And how to survive after death … his fear, eternal fear. He would go back home , his ankor , his security, his cosy place. To be with his closest friends. I had already the appoitment with him at beginning of October 2003, there in Geneva. We, his closest friends were left behind. The research was superficial. Quantity only. I am translating his biography written by his teacher and eternal deep friend now. Why Samantha did that ? To self promotion ? A man who during so many years had his tears in my fingers. And who never let me go to war from fear to loose me. As a transcendental friend. The one who really knew him. As his teacher. He told me once, calling me from Madrid : “… there is no internal connection between us … ( Larriera ) nothing … look how I am really … look at the small photos … I am sad, depressed … ” . Here he was meaning the photos ( the small ones )at his interview at El Pais the known spanish newspaper. He was waiting to go back to Geneva in order to be alone as a man but there where his wife Annie is , who was very important to him , as his children , his closest and loyal friends, us. And dedicate himself to Buddhism. To find himself. He would assume he knew this philosophy of Life from a very long time ago, since his teenagerhood with me. All his things are still there at home. My home. Only reading Sidharta by Hermann Hesse one can understand what happenned with him and his lover Larriera, that he tryed to hide in being engaged … Only a ring … he was waiting … to be in Geneva again. Samantha has written ( answered ) to a friend in common ( Sergio and I ) : “… I just hope he could mend before his wake … “. I think so. He could mend, inside of him. And she recognizes that as our friend in common Michael told her : “… I did not know ( at that time ) the Central hole of Teresa in Sergio’s life … ” . A transcendental hole. Till today, after five years I have the pain of his loss. A deep connection during 40 years. I am still young and alive, because we have exchanged Strengh. The one that will last forever. I hope ( we all hope ) the film will not be done. It would be a Blasphemy against the Truth. Self promotion … Terry George has to know that ! Teresa Loureiro de Souza, Berlin
