Denim Deal at Barneys Co-op

Barney’s

Just heard about a special offer right now at Barneys Co-op. If you bring in an old pair of denim jeans, you get 20% off a new pair. The offer is through the end of August, and is a nice way to clean your closet and add to it at the same time.

At last! Now I can exchange my old, horrifically ripped-up jeans for some new, horrifically ripped-up jeans that would have cost me $175 without this valuable 20- percent-off coupon!

Really? Max (”a member of team Good” according to his profile) is pimping Barneys? I’m guessing this is some kind of covert advertising. I really hope I’m wrong, but this is just bizarre. Am I missing something? Can designer jeans save the world? Does turning in an old pair count as some kind of recycling?

Wow, was surprised by these comments. I appreciated what Barneys did, though of course that by itself will not save the world. What single action will? Yes, it was a recycling program. Yes, we are in a down market, but I thought this program was a creative way to encourage recycling and thoughtful consumption at the same time.
