Disposable Primark

Back in the 1960s people looked towards the distant ’70s and saw a world in which you’d never have to wash a single shirt or patch a hole in your jeans. All you’d need is a few extra trash cans: the future belongs to disposable clothes! A 1961 article from the Evening Capital heralds the trend.

Ridiculous, right? Laughable! Nope, it turns out this prediction wasn’t too far off. See Primark, a budget retailer in the UK that specializes in cheap stuff you throw away. The stores drew Beckham-worthy crowds recently. Even Oxford Students love it. It would have been a lot cooler if the predictions about jet-packs had come true.
