Eccentric genius Glenn Gould died about a quarter century ago, leaving behind a substantial and sonorous body of work. His takes on Bach were unconventional (and maybe unmatched). Now Sony (and Columbia) has issued an 80-cd career-spanning retrospective. Lloyd Schwartz has a proper review of it here.
Just for fun (read: tear-jerking beauty), here’s a look at one of last scenes from the nonlinear Gould biopic, “Thirty-two Short Films About Glenn Gould.” Spoiler alter: it’s one of the last scenes. Sound alert: it’s better if you can hear it.
