In the next election, California voters may have a chance to vote and give themselves a nice speedy train. A new bill in the California legislature would put the question to the states voters: "Wouldn't it be awesome to get from LA to San Francisco in 3 hours, on a 200 mph train." Your options on the ballot will be "Yes, awesome," or "No, not awesome." If California does pioneer this, it seems possible that high-speed rail might come to other parts of the country, which would put us on par with what Europe and Asia were doing 20 years ago.
