This idea has been in my head for a few years and GOOD seems to be the right place to air it...

You have seen those giant outdoor advertising signs hung on buildings, vinyl signs, called "flexies",not only hurt the eyes but hurt the brick wall behind them. They are only up for the life of the ad campaign, then dumped, really, in Mexico or other out-of-the-way spots. Obviously they do not biodegrade. It seems to me that this material would make great shelter material in the event of natural or unnatural disasters. I expect that flexies would be free to anyone who can take them away. Contact me for the name of one of the sign makers in NY that I know.
