Tonight, I saw the future of food, politics, and culture collide. It's time for every American citizen to see Food, Inc. This film highlights the most corrupt, unsettling aspects of not only our food industry, but our modern way of life. From childhood poisoning, environmental destruction, and present day slavery, Food, Inc. is a disturbingly powerful film. When I think about the injustices I learned about as a kid--racism, sexism, war----I now understand what my children will scrutinize when they look at my generation: the way we ate.

So often, vegetarians, vegans, and other foodies judge certain eating philosophies in reaction to their own taste buds. After seeing this film, its painfully clear that all food lovers need to unite. Right now, there are countless food philosophies saturating our media and our mouths. I say, it's time to stop caring if your dinner companion is an obsessive vegan and appreciate any and all food conscious individuals. To take time and pleasure in this fundemental aspect of life is now necessary. Passivity, ignorance, and prejudice are no longer options when it comes to food. Right now, it's time to find out how to eat locally, organically, and happily. It's time to stop eating for a philosophy and start embracing our rights to real FOOD.
