Gay Bishop Compromise Rejected

When factions of the US Episcopal Church began ordaining openly gay bishops four years ago, they sparked a controversy that still threatens to tear the church apart.

For the sake of unity the American Church just agreed to "halt" the ordination of gay bishops, but that's not enough for many African Anglicans.

One Kanyan archbishop says:

"What we expected to come from them is to repent - that this is a sin in the eyes of the Lord and repentance is what me, in particular, and others expected to hear coming from this church."

Is halting the ordination of gay bishops already an unacceptable concession for the gay rights movement to make? Is there any value to church unity?
