The nearly 20 percent of 16- to 24-year-olds that are unemployed has been described as a potential lost generation. Strong language, but Matt Yglesias is smart to point out that "while the labor market outlook for college graduates is bad by the standards of recent history, it's really not catastrophic."

Where things turn particularly troublesome are for those that fail to complete high school.

The Daily Beast has assembled the 10 worst dropout cities. California claims four of the top ten.
