Hazards of Super Bowl Sunday

Fans of the Pats, G-men and, more generally, the annual food fest that is Super Bowl Sunday, should take heed of some new medical findings: heart attacks and other cardiac arrests have been seen to spike considerably during intense sporting events. A new study in the New England Journal of Medicine saw emergency heart problems double in Munich when Germany’s national team was playing matches during the 2006 World Cup. While most NFL devotees don’t quite match the insanity of European soccer fanatics, we won’t sell any of you short: hot wings + bean dip + voice-volume-raising beverages + that ——— referee + New York / Boston disdain = reason to check up on the ol’ heartbeat during commercial breaks.
