Help Send Some Creative Young Doctors on a Boat Trip

  • Posted by: Zach Frechette

Our friends over at Kickstarter tipped us off to a very cool project in need of funding. The Floating Doctors is an idea that grew out of a trip Dr. Ben La Brot took to Tanzania while he was a medical student (he’s also a marine biologist). He stopped at a Masai village and treated the villagers there with the medicine he had with him in his backpack, but there wasn’t nearly enough to go around. Not one to be discouraged—remember, this is a guy who’s a doctor and a marine biologist—Ben created The Floating Doctors as a mobile medical clinic, staffed with volunteers on a donated boat, that plans to go all over the world administering treatment.

But they need money to do it, which is why they created this page on Kickstarter. They’re hoping to raise $25,000 by September 24th. As you can see by the widget below, they’re not there yet. Learn about their mission through the charmingly animated video they created, and give them a little support.

This is why I love GOOD-I get to find out about creative people trying to find ways to solve important, relevant problems. I sincerely hope they get the money they need.
