With Obama's proposed 2011 budget generating a lot of discussion right now, here's some historical context in the form of a handy graph.
I would have guessed that defense spending had bounced around a lot more, but it's been in relatively steady decline as a percentage of what America spends money on. Health outlays are another matter.
