Tonight the world lost a great mind in novelist, essayist, playwright, husband, and father, Kurt Vonnegut. Author of such triumphs as Slaughterhouse Five and Breakfast of Champions, Vonnegut had a knack for tapping into the most absurd qualities of human existence, all the while acknowledging the tenderness of life's daily minutia. An unparalleled wit and a true humanitarian, he will be dearly, dearly missed.

GOOD was lucky enough to have Mr. Vonnegut contribute the scribbled self-portrait shown above to our first issue. May he rest in peace.
