CBS has decided this ad for a gay dating site (video below) isn't fit for the Super Bowl broadcast.[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MQWFiIrBLAThere's some commentary over at the Los Angeles Times suggesting that ManCrunch submitted the ad knowing it would be rejected as a publicity stunt. That's not hard to believe given that it looks like the budget for the spot could have been in the single-digit thousands. But it did get rejected-even though it's less risque than many beer commercials. CBS's policy on the ads it will run is opaque. In the past they've said they won't run "issue advertising." Tim Tebow's anti-abortion spot got approved though. And if we can handle that-and the rest of the sex and commercialism-I think we should be able to handle ManCrunch.I wonder if an Orbitz ad would have any trouble.
