Measuring Obama’s First 100 Days

  • Posted by: GOOD , Atley Kasky

A few months ago, we published one of our GOOD Sheets on the first 100 days of all the presidents since FDR, examining the major actions taken during the early days of each presidency. Today is President Obama’s 100th day in office and here is an updated version of that graphic. These are obviously just some of the many things that the President has done since his inauguration, but it’s a good look at his and his predecessors’ bodies of preliminary work. Click here to see the full graphic.

Why is Obama’s first 100 days not on this list?

I would add passing the Kennedy Serve America Act, reversing the course on stem cell research, protecting millions of acres of forest through the Wildernesss Protection Bill, saving an American from the clutches of Pirates, plus perhaps most importantly, he has gone a long way to restore America’s reputation abroad and provided calm, steady, trusted leadership in the most difficult of times. As a result, more Americans now think we’re headed in the right direction than the wrong direction for the first time in 5 years. Pretty impressive 100 days though still a long way to go.

Slight error: JFK wasn’t the youngest President; TR was.

Unless I’m missing something, there seem to be a couple of errors with Obama’s column – first, the “cross hatching” of the box is wrong (you have it as “under 50% of the popular vote”), and second putting in an “anticipated” number of days as president seems… well… presumptuous :)

In his first 100 days President Obama visited the Turkey, why don’t you mention it in the chart.

Wow! It really goes to show how the best presidents did the least in the first 100!!

How is the “Dotcom Bust” the only noteworthy event of George W. Bush’s presidency?
