Well, it happened. We had a party, and people came. A lot of people (some might say too many people. We wouldn't say that). Our Choose GOOD campaign kick-off at Sin-é was a resounding success. Despite the rain, friends of GOOD in the east showed their support and helped us reach our first honest to goodness, caveat free milestone: $10,000 given away to charity. Not bad people.
We are breaking all sorts of records this week. The numbers speak for themselves:
Number of subscribers: 503
Number of days to reach our goal at current pace: 3703 (10 years - this is heading in the direction of feasible, kind of)
Number of hand made buttons distributed this weekend: 300+
Leaders: Teach For America (61), Millennium Promise (57)
Stragglers: Creative Commons (17), City Year (19)
Notes:
*The battle between TFA and Millennium Promise is approaching epic status. There's some joke to be made here about teaching and Africa. One day we'll make it. Let it also be said that they are the first individual causes to raise over $1000.
*The gap between leaders and stragglers is widening. Something must be done (we're talking to you Creative Commons).
*Look for pictures in the next day or two and more party announcements in the coming weeks.
More from GOOD: Last week and the week before.
