New research from Professor Michael Norton at Harvard Business School suggests that spending money on others (even as small as $5) can produce "non-trivial gains in happiness on a given day."

The research also finds that how much one earns is less important for their happiness than how they choose to spend it.

This may explain why Kiva has so many return donors...Its biologically rewarding.
