There is an estimated 2.194 billion square feet of rentable self-storage space in the United States, an area roughly 858 times the size of the U.S. National Archives.

Each packing peanut on this page is equal to the square footage of the National Archives. All the peanuts represent the total square footage of rentable storage space in the United States.
