Nazi Metaphors

Here’s a little tip for everyone, especially those in politics or education: stop comparing things to the Holocaust, Hitler, any thing remotley related to Nazi-era Germany . Not only do you sound obnoxious, but everyone gets a free pass to yell at you and tell you what a horrible person you are. The most recent examples: Gristmill calls for Nuremberg trials for global warming skeptics. And Republicans in Congress now get to tarnish the reputation of everyone who has appeared in Grist. And a teacher at UW compares Bush to Hitler, has every Wisconsin politician call for his firing, but manages to hold on to his job. Honestly, just expand your historical metaphors and save everyone the trouble of their righteous indignation.
