Nuclear Energy Goes Greenwashed

I was surprised to see the Big Ideas piece entitled Nuclear Energy Goes Green. GOOD writes "At last, the environmental movement, after fighting new plants for decades, has warmed up to the idea." Perhaps this is true for those simpletons who struggle to wrap their heads around but one environmental issue at a time. The dark side to our new appreciation of the perils of global climate change is that many (including at least one writer at GOOD) now seek quick fixes to climate change that are likely to have harmful consequences for other parts of our environment - consequences that are likely to offset any gains. The environment is complex; holistic approaches that appreciate this complexity are needed to protect it. When it comes to nuclear power, this simple cure for climate change could be worse than the disease.
