New York City's newest park, the High Line, draws a creative crowd to walk along the re-purposed rail line above the art galleries of Chelsea with scenic views of the Hudson.

So it isn't that surprising that when it snows, instead of sledding kiddies we find sculpted snow. Click through the slide show for some selections off the High Line website from past snowfalls.

As snow has engulfed New York, the clever folks at the High Line decided to encourage the impromptu artistic winter trend. They're holding a contest for the best snow sculpture.

The first ever High Line Sculpt-Off starts at 2 p.m. So, snow loving New Yorkers, if you don't have to work, grab your mittens, round up a team, and head on over there. Details on signing up to compete to win prizes like an iPod and various High Line merchandise here.
