One Writer Who’s Not On Strike

  • Posted by: Andrew Price

The strike by the Writers Guild of America could have ramifications that extend way beyond studios and scribes. People have talked about the likely increase in reality TV, for example, which doesn’t require WGA writers.

But will audiences stick around if scripted TV starts to dry up?

Consider the case of Alex Perez: Hollywood Scab Writer. His hilarious “promotional videos” sell him as willing to save the industry by “writing every film himself” but he may be part of the very web video trend that kills the industry. With the late night TV shows in reruns already, funny people on the internet may be poised to steal audiences from funny people on TV for good.
