Patriotism: A Basketball Analogy

For the first issue of GOOD, we asked W+K 12 to find a way to visually display the theme: I (heart) America.

They came up with a spread with the message "America Love It Or Fix It."

Is that the inclusive "or," though, or the exclusive one? Can you love it and fix it? We think so.

You can be a patriot without slipping into blind nationalism and you can acknowledge your country's shortcomings without being a "blame-America-firster."

It can be a tricky balance though. Matthew Yglesias' basketball analogy helps.
