Philly Debate: Candidates Forced To Explain Away Slip-ups

  • Posted by: danielriley

Last night’s Democratic debate in Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center featured moderators Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous playing to the sorts of campaign nitpicking that are typically reserved for pundits and bloggers. By electing to focus on Rev. Wright (a weeks-old issue from which even the media had seemed to move on), Barack’s “bitter” comment, why Obama doesn’t wear the stars-and-strips on his lapel, Hillary’s Bosnia trip exaggerations, and other candidate stumblings, the debate seemed willing to force issues such as taxes, gun control, and the war—which were eventually all covered—to the side-stage.

Also of particular note, Clinton at last issued a “yes, yes, yes” (video clip above) when asked whether she thought Obama could win in November—a concession she had been unwilling to make in the past. Shortly thereafter, Barack returned with his pseudo-support of Hillary: “Absolutely [she's electable], and I’ve said so before.”

But the truest moment of brotherly/sisterly love came when a clip of John McCain popped up, and, prior to responding to his comments, both candidates shared in a tender moment of “look at that crazy old man” guffawing.

I find it quite intriguing that this magazine is an outlet for artists that serves to promote a platform that otherwise would be left without a voice. The following prose were submitted to nearly all of the major newspapers, ABC, MSNBC, FoxNews, CNN and many other non-traditional forums. I find it interesting that not one has featured, published, or discussed the prose. I have been published in the past when the prose were not quite so good (The Smoking Gun” published in the Des Moines Register 1999/2000.

Here, like before, the prose are political and central to our future as the next president will be critical to the future of our children, the world, and peace around the world. So why would the media refuse to look at this poem? I think because it is literally a smoking gun and the media does not want to admit or bring attention to what may in fact be a litteral smoking gun.

Here is another interesting fact, I placed this poem in this magazine a few day ago and it had been coming up as the first entry when I googled “Obombanation” and now all of sudden no reference to this magazine appears–strange that my other references still appear but not this one to this magazine–makes you wonder…nonetheless, here are the prose yet again….

    OBOMBANATION…A NOSTALGIC REMINISCENCE

    BY CURT HAMMOCK

From the quill of one man.

    Is Beauty only skin deep?

Take a Chance on a blazon trail ?

    Oh infatuated nation;

    The change chatter Proclamation

    All MEN are created Equal

    Men are inspired by Words

    But Emotion over Reason

    Or Inspiration over perspiration?

    Clearly Obama’s WRIGHT is wrong

    Compassion must trump color allegiance

    Tears of poverty constant

    Media Bias clear as Ice

    Hype is the culprit

    The focus the chains

    Remember the power of nature

    The recitation of sacrifice

    Endurance the foundation

    The tolerance of woman

    Again-All Men are created equal

    All knowledge comes from pain

    And what of our children

    No Child born is punishment

Time does not alter the blessing

    Faith demands Parity Allegiance

    Not by Blind faith-leap

    Time, tested, and true

    Behind every successful man…

    The tribulation of the Womb-man

    Men, the tides have changed

    Espouse the inevitable parity

    Hang loose you say?

Beware of the rip I say!

Pierce the words & dilatory dissolutions

    Time tested and true blue

    All men are created equal…

    Suspect is the female

    Laudable, subvert sexism

    The verdict—a Village
