The position of Poet Laureate has always seemed like one of the coolest in government. And now we have a new one: Donald Hall, whose greatest work has been described as ""loud, sweeping, multitudinous, an act of the imperial imagination." It's a largely symbolic appointment, but who knows what he'll do with that imperial imagination. Coup?
